A CELEBRATION OF INDIGENOUS CULTURE

The global Venice Architecture Biennale is architecture’s most prestigious expo, and in 2020, architects Tristan Wong (SJB Architect) and Jefa Greenaway (Greenaway Architects) were both named as creative directors.

Although this year’s event was cancelled due to Covid-19, they had planned to submit the ‘Australian Pavilion’, an immersive installation that was going to explore the connections between indigenous cultures across Australia and the South Pacific.  Visual elements, combined with textures, projected light and sound were going to form the basis of this stunning experience.

The piece, called In | Between, was to be delivered in collaboration with anthropologist Elizabeth Grant, writer/producer Tim Ross, designer Aaron Puls and architecture graduate Jordyn Milliken
